And yet again, the Billionaire Boys Club delivers. These are pieces from the 2009 Fall/Winter collection, and they all happen to be October releases; however, if you'll be in Tokyo this weekend, they'll be available at the "Ice Cream" Store October 25th.... Stay tuned
TOAST TO THE LEGENDS... "Ray Charles"
Another one of my personal favorites and a true genius at heart,
Ray Charles Robinson, September 23, 1930 - June 10, 2004, blended the likes of Blues, Gospel. Country, Pop and Jazz into a sweet symphony of music in which he could call his own. Since I grew up listening to the Blues I've always had a huge respect for the musicianship found in all of Ray Charles' music, and although he wasn't the best vocalist, the emotion he pushed behind each lyric made his sound all the more unique.
A true hero of American music... R.I.P.
Keion Bell: The Human Catapult
Em and I just got done shooting The Celebrity Basketball Game here at Howard; another hit event this year. We're 4/4 right now. We had some big names come out such as Pooch Hall, Ms. Melyssa Ford, Omarion, AND 1's White Chocloate, The one and only Essence Atkins, Lance Gross, and many more... I'm still feeling the energy from the event, therefore, it's only right that I post this...
By the way, we will post all of the Homecoming Pictures for ya'll early next week, so you can experience what we lived...

Just learned about this brand tonight, thanks to http://www.acquiremag.com/. I'm hype now though, because I'm an avid sunglasses lover. To check out their 2010 Resort/Spring Collection click here.
Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Simply put, Nirvana is one the greatest bands ever. They are the pioneers of "grunge," and along with a few other alternative rock bands in the early nineties i.e. Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, they changed the course of Rock music forever. I would love to be able to sit down with Kurt Cobain and discuss his life, music, and whatever else happens to come up during the course of our conversation.
Enjoy their performance of "Smells like Teen Spirit," the single off their album Nevermind (1991) that launched their career into the mainstream.
Also, here are the links to the video's for...

Nelson George in Barcelona
Traveling and investigating the essence of other cultures around the world have and always will be passions of mine. Throughout my life, I plan on visiting many countries and truly indulging in the native people's way of life. I want to walk in their shoes and truly get a taste for their lifestyle, literally and figuratively. Learning about other people's ways of life allows us to grow as individuals and expand our vision of the world. Today, I found out about a site called BlackAtlas.com, which is a travel site that showcases different cities and countries from an African American perspective. Here's an example of a video that you could find on the site...

Russell Simmons' Ode to Jay-Z
"Without hip-hop there is no Barack Obama. And without Jay-Z, we wouldn’t be where we are today."
Read Simmons' full commentary on the influence of Jay-Z on the world at global grind... I can appreciate one man of great stature tipping his hat to another man of great stature. Much respect to Russell and Jay-Z. We're up next... see you at the top!
Cornel West
A wise man once told me...
Truly, one of the most brilliant minds walking this earth today. I would love to sit down and pick this gentleman's brain. I can't imagine how much I would learn about myself and the world. Thank you Dr. West.
I will post the rest of the series later.

NEXT UP... "Nipsey Hussle" Out Of Los Angeles, Ca
From My Neck Of The Woods,
Breakout artist, Nipsey Hussle, has been on a serious grind since age 13; from being apart of the eccentric culture of the West Coast, lol, to laying out a plan for his own company "Slauson Boy Records". Check out his mixtapes Bullets Ain't Got No Name volumes 1,2 & 3, and w/me being from Compton, Ca, I have to support this new installment of music to a once stagnant West Coast. Nipsey is truth and he is indeed the Next Up...

Howard Homecoming Poetry Cipher 2009
Howard Homecoming 2009 has been a huge success. Emmitt, better known to ya'll as emcgee, and I have been blessed with the opportunity to be the Official Homecoming Photographers. Thus far we have seen Midnight Madness, The International Dance Showcase, The Gospel Show, and we just completed the Poetry Cipher. As a writer and a lover of language, I was truly inspired by the words of every poet that shared their soul with us tonight. Therefore, it is only right that I spread the word (no pun intended) and share some of their voices with ya'll...
I have nothing more to say, and I will let poetry speak. Enjoy the truth...

Damien Marley ft. Lil' Wayne "The Mission" (RMX)
Wayne hops on the remix of Damien Marley's, "The Mission." Wayne whines a little too much on it for my liking, but overall, the song is good.
Check out this video below, in which, Marley touches on the topics of Africa, Education, & Rastafarianism... as well clips from him and Nas performing. Can't wait for Distant Relatives.
Lady GaGa "Alejandro"
New one from Lady GaGa. I love her insane fashion style and the blood, sweat and tears she puts into her performances.
Wyclef Jean ft. Movado "Hold On" (Crossroads)
Nice lil' inspirational joint for you guys... Wyclef has always made positive music for the people.
Egypt/Lebanon Montage by Khalid Mohtaseb
One of my best friends back home in Massachusetts is from Syria. While growing up, I was blessed to get an inside look into Middle Eastern culture and family structure. It was quite interesting to see how they adapted to American culture, while holding onto their Middle Eastern values and beliefs. As a result, I have always been extremely interested in the Middle East, and I hope to travel there one day.
With regards to Egypt, I, as a young black man, and more importantly just as a human being, have an unyielding respect for Ancient Egyptian culture and the knowledge their civilization has brought to the world. I do not know as much as I should, but I am learning and growing with time.
Enjoy the video...

That's ironic. I was listening to Lloyd yesterday, and thought it'd be cool if these two young gentlemen did a song together. The result lies in the link below. Check out a snippet of Lloyd and J. Holiday's collab...

Melanie Fiona "Subway Series" New York City
Great Idea..!!
The foxy Ms. Melanie Fiona, first introduced to the civilians for her sexy song "Give It To Me Right", is stepping outside of her comfort zone and doing what many artist would turn their noses up at. The Canadian songstress is attempting to travel and do performances in subways, paks, street-corners etc... This is good for music and I hope her attempts don't go unnoticed.
Alicia Keys "Doesn't Mean Anything" Video
The beautiful and incredibly talented, Ms. Alicia Keys releases her much anticipated video for her hit single "Doesn't Mean Anything". And she's looking quite appealing in this video; Daaaaammmmnn.

Ape School's "Wail to God" Video
Honestly, I've never heard of this group before, but I came across this video as I was cruisin' the net and found it quite intriguing. I love how the visual rhythm coincides with the beat of the song. I feel like this should be a given for all music videos, but it's not. Enjoy!

J. Cole "A Star is Born" Part I & II
Those who have half the amount of brain cells necessary for the average human to function can see that J. Cole is and will be a dominant force in the world of Hip Hop. I don't want to limit him to just Hip Hop, so I will say music as well. Truly a special talent, and I deeply appreciate what he is bringing to the music... Check out the first two videos of a four part documentary entitled, J. Cole "A Star is Born."

I love the transformation that is taking place in Hip Hop at the moment. Artists, especially the newcomers, are focusing more on content, lyrical ability, and thinking outside of the box, rather than falling deeper into the trap of Money, Cash, Hoes... No offense Hov. lol. It's a beautiful evolution... Let's take the music to new heights!

Kanye West & Spike Jonze "We Were Once A Fairytale" Short Film
"We Were Once A Fairytale" - Kanye West Dir: Spike Jonze from Yooj‽ on Vimeo.
Shout to my man Kanye,
I've always respected his keen sense of creativity, and the music he makes is- beyond a reasonable doubt -light years ahead of the mundane compositions heard wherever "popular music" is being pushed.. i.e. RADIO... but yeah man, I thought this was interesting. The fact that Kanye plays a drunken, obnoxious and completely annoying celebrity in this short film, while subsequently receiving flack from his VMA incident, shows the creative genius in Kanye. I digg this

This is just a brilliant idea... Stairs have never looked so fun before. I'd probably be the one to run up and down them all day long. Lol. It'd be tight if you could synchronize a group of people to make up a song.
Shane McConkey: The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Anybody that knows me, knows that I am a daredevil at heart, and although, I have a pretty calm and cool demeanor, I love to chase thrills and live on the wild side. This is most likely due to the fact that I began skiing at aroud 3 years of age, and grew up hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, and any other activity that provided an adrenaline rush. I do not ski anymore, and I regret it daily, however, this fact only adds to my respect for gentlemen like Shane McConkey, who dedicated his life to breaking barriers in the skiing world. This man was a genius and truly advanced the sport that he loved.
McConkey, sadly, passed away in March 2009, while practicing a cliff jump for a Red Bull promotional video...
Dedicated to Shane McConkey (1969-2009) R.I.P.

JD: Living The Life @ BlogWorldExpo
I thought this was interesting, because although blogging and social media have taken the world by storm, they haven't even began to make their mark in the way they will revolutionzie business and worldwide communication... I am extremely interested in how they will transform daily lifestyle and business models (especially in entertainment) in the future. These are truly exciting times to be alive.
